چکیده
INTRoduCTIoN Carpal tunnel syndrome is a most common peripheral compression neuropathy (1). It is caused by mechanical compression of the median nerve as it traverses the carpal tunnel of the wrist. Classic signs and symptoms are numbness of the lateral three digits and weakness of the thenar muscles due to atrophy (2). Important diagnostic tests include electromyography (EMG) and nerve conduction studies. The gold standard for the surgical treatment is transection of the transverse carpal ligament.

Compression Arthrodesis of the Shoulder.
Predictable and rapid arthrodesis of the shoulder is the aim of any operation. Albert was reported to have attempted it in 188 1 and since then many techniques have been evolved, both intra-articular and extra-articular, either alone or with the use of bone grafts and internal fixation. The Research Committee of the American Orthopaedic Association in 1942 drew attention to the fact that none o...
متن کاملShoulder impingement syndromes: implications on physical therapy examination and intervention.
A painful shoulder presents challenges in examination, diagnosis and intervention for the physical therapist because of the complexity of the structures involved. A common cause of shoulder pain is shoulder impingement syndrome. This was first described as a condition in which the soft tissues of the subacromial space were chronically entrapped and compressed between the humeral head and the su...
متن کاملThe costoclavicular syndrome: a 'new cause'.
Costoclavicular compression in obese, heavy breasted, middle aged or elderly women from tight, narrow brassiere straps is a common cause of neck, shoulder, and arm pain. Clues to diagnosis and simple treatment measures, including the use of a shoulder pad, are described.

The association of herpetoid corneal changes with circumscribed palmo-plantar keratoderma was first described by Richner (I938). Hanhart (1947) suggested that this represented a recessively inherited ectodermal syndrome, and the condition is sometimes called the Richner-Hanhart syndrome. Subsequent reports have been relatively few: Cremona (I 957); Kuske (I959); Franceschetti and Thier (I96I); ...
متن کاملManaging Bony Defects of the Shoulder Joint that Occur in Association with Dislocation
Background Defects to the articular surface of the humeral head have been known to be associated with shoulder dislocation since the 19th century. It wasn't until 1934 that the first description of the ubiquitous compression fracture of the posterolateral humeral head that occurs with traumatic anterior instability appeared. From 1940, this defect became referred to as a Hill-Sachs lesion after...
